Editor's note

 

The First Step and First Issue of Our Bilim Kızı Magazine When we set out in 2016 to improve life with the scientific studies of women scientists, we believed in our successful and determined girls. Our Bilim Kızı project offers SCHOLARSHIP, MENTORSHIP and EVENT services to our girls who receive undergraduate education in BASIC Sciences and MASTER'S degree in LIFE Sciences. As of this period, we have supported 81 smart girls to achieve scientific success with our 53 mentor teachers consisting of women scientists.

 

This Bilim Kızı Magazine proves how true our belief in our girls' success is. This first issue of our magazine started entirely with our girls' own initiative. They brought it to life with their own suggestions. They worked with a team approach from scope to content to design. What do we want to tell you first? They answered the question. After this question, each of our writers wrote about topics that will interest you.

 

Many people who know the difficulty of the magazine business and have suffered through it know that they are not doing easy work. However, they prepared a wonderful magazine that informs us about current scientific developments and that we all feel comfortable with. They wrote, illustrated and designed freely. They combined science with art and life. They learned, explained and produced an exemplary study.

Who will you read in this first step? Açelya Aklan explained the healing of natural antioxidants to us in a scientific way. Ayşe Sude Sırmalı defined our building block DNA with art. Hümeyra Dağdagül wrote the true story of Rosalind Franklin, that valuable woman whose rights were violated. İrem Deniz Arberk explained the mathematical structure behind the golden ratio, which is the magic number of art and the key to beauty. Mihrinur Öztürk shared the importance of the key to aging, which is a problem for all of us, and its relationship with cancer. Özge Belli reminded us of the importance of the health of our life source, the soil. Büşra Güler made us understand the importance of genetic diseases. Damlanur Erat made us think about what it means to be alive. Şimalnaz Beşyıldız made the design. I embrace them all with love. These wonderful writers and designers gave us a taste of how science is intertwined with life, how life can be improved with science. They created awareness in us with their articles, which are one of the many ways to add VALUE to life with science and women. I invite you all to read and share to be read.
