Bilim Kızı Project which started as a project in 2016, have transformed into a Bilim Kızı COMMUNITY as of 2024. At the end of the stage reached in 9 years, the achievements and works of Bilim Kızı MENTİ and MENTORs in the scientific field were shared in the Bilim Kızı SUMMIT 2025, which we organized for the first time, and a STRATEGIC PLAN for the next ten years was prepared. Thus, our roadmap for building a more inclusive future for our girls who set out to achieve success in science by imagining a world where women in the world of science have more say has been determined.

The work in the Bilim Kızı Project, which began in 2016, aimed to support young women studying in the fields of basic sciences and life sciences and to help them advance in their scientific careers. The project particularly targeted successful female students studying undergraduate programs in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology, and successful female students studying postgraduate programs in life sciences such as molecular biology, genetics, bioengineering, medicine, medicine, dentistry, material sciences, nanotechnology, energy and environmental sciences, information technologies and space science. When the project started in 2016, it aimed to provide support to 100 Science Girls in 10 years and to achieve achievements that would earn 1 Nobel Prize in this process. Various support mechanisms were provided within the scope of the project to achieve these basic goals. The most important of these mechanisms is the structured mentoring support that lasted 9 months with mentor teachers consisting of women scientists. In addition, female students who requested financial support and scholarships were provided support through the WORK-EARN activity and TEV. In addition, within the scope of event support, activities such as R&D centers and university visits, vision speeches, trainings, etc. are carried out to increase scientific experience and knowledge, which can be gathered in 12 different groups. From 2016 to the end of 2024, with the activities carried out to achieve its goals, 81 female students were provided with mentoring services and 53 female scientists were included in the project as mentors. In addition, 43 students were provided with scholarships and financial support, 19 students were provided with English language training, and 33 students participated in R&D/lab trips and camps. In addition, 502 hours of competency training was provided in areas such as artificial intelligence and data analysis within the scope of the project.

 

The Bilim Kızı Community is supported by 43 institutional supporters, and these supporters are of great importance in terms of the sustainability of the project and reaching a wide audience. The project aims to ensure that young women are more represented in the scientific field and to contribute to their success in their scientific careers.

The Bilim Kızı Community offers various products and calendars to generate income for scholarships and events provided to female students. Within the scope of the project, the sales revenues of the products produced under the ‘Bilim Kızı’ brand are donated to the project. These products include silver jewelry and badges with the registered Bilim Kızıbrand designed by Ali Taran, cloth bags and various cups prepared with the registered visual design of Büşra Orhon. These products can be purchased from http://bilimkizi.org and the purchases support female students. In addition, the Bilim Kızı Calendar, which covers the years 2022-2025 and covers the achievements of contemporary female scientists, is an important source of income for the project. These calendars can be gifted to suppliers, customers and other stakeholders by corporate customers at the beginning of the year and can be personalized with corporate logos. The revenues obtained from calendar sales are used for Bilim Kızı scholarships and events. This income model ensures the sustainability of the project and offers the opportunity to support more female students.
